Michigan Stadium, also known as the Big House, is the football stadium for the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor. It is the largest stadium in the United States and the second largest stadium in the world, behind Rungrado 1st of May Stadium in Pyongyang, North Korea. The stadium was built in 1927 and has undergone several renovations since then, with the most recent one taking place in 1956. The first game at Michigan Stadium was played on October 1, 1927, and it has since become the home of Michigan football, as well as other University of Michigan athletics teams, such as hockey. The official seating capacity of the stadium is 107,601, but it has often surpassed that number for big college football games.
